Emergency Stain Care
In our years of carpet and upholstery cleaning we have encountered people who have used many different concoctions to remove stains from carpets and upholstery - from Germalene (the person wondered why their carpet turned pink!) to air freshener!
Here's a few tips to consider:
Stay calm as almost all stains can be removed from carpets and upholstery by the Stain Away process if treated properly at the time they happen.
Absorb wet spills with a clean white cloth, terry nappy, tissue or a paper towel. A weighted pad of white tissue left in place for a short period of time is also very effective.
Work from the edge of the stain towards the centre to prevent the spread of the stain.
Use a small amount of clean water with the white cloth to dilute the stain.
Avoid aggressive rubbing which only tends to distort the pile and spread the stain.
Keep working until the carpet is touch dry to prevent wetting to the backing.
Treat with a good Spot Cleaner that contains no bleach, enzymes or detergents.
Use dishcloths that may hold detergent residue.
Use proprietry carpet cleaners, many of which include bleach, masking or setting agents.
Use washing up liquid or household detergents.
Rush the job, many stains take time to respond.
Try old wives tales! Many old remedies cause chemical reactions which actually set the stain and means they can never be removed!.

Regular cleaning preserves the life of your fabrics. By pulling your fabrics back into line, wear is put back on the end of the fibres.
Vacuum regularly to prevent build up of dirt, as dirt particles trapped in carpet pile and upholstery fibres act like tine knives to cut and wear the carpet and upholstery fibres.
Clean up spillages as soon as they happen
Have your carpets cleaned annually with the Stain Away system.
For your upholstery, have the complete suite cleaned at least every 12-18 months to prevent fade and variation in colours.
Clean your curtains where they hang to prevent stretching and distortion every 18-24 months.
If you are a smoker, pet owner or a family with young children, your home may require more frequent cleaning to maintain the appearance and life of your valuable assets.
